Wilmington’s iconic Grand Opera House will roll out the red carpet on January 8, 2026, for the world premiere of the independent mockumentary comedy entitled “The Conspiracists”. With a blend of grassroots ambition and cinematic charm, this feature marks a milestone not just for its creators but for the state’s burgeoning film community. Produced by Uncultured Swine and Wilmington-based King Creative, “The Conspiracists” is the product of creativity, community, and courage colliding at the crossroads.
The red carpet kicks off at 6 p.m. with a VIP reception, setting the stage for the 8 p.m. screening and a live Q&A session with the filmmakers and cast. This is a celebration of a homegrown production that turned a micro-budget into a macro-miracle.
“The Conspiracists”: From Local Vision to Big Screen Reality
“The Conspiracists” is a sharply observed mockumentary that follows siblings Daisy and Eric Sureloc, played by Broadway star Terrie Lynne and Christopher Murray, as they attempt to organize ConCon—the world’s first-ever all-inclusive conspiracy convention. But as their plans spiral into chaos, deeper mysteries begin to unravel. “As we wander into another time of emotional, political, and social insecurity, conspiracy runs rampant with every new post online,” said director and co-writer Michael Perrie Jr. “We wanted to write something that makes people think a little, laugh a lot, and come together.”

The film’s rapid-fire production schedule—just 11 consecutive days—was as ambitious as the plot itself. Shot across 12 Delaware locations, including Hotel du Pont, the Siegel JCC, Captain Blue Hen Comics, and of course, the Grand Opera House, “The Conspiracists” transformed the First State into a cinematic playground. Executive producers Beatriz Naranjo and Edward Layfield of Uncultured Swine emphasized that it all began with a great script, tight friendships, and a shared leap of faith. “It started with a hilarious script, years-long friendships that turned into creative partnerships, and an ambitious timeline,” they said.
Joining the effort was Christopher Robert Bruce of King Creative, who not only served as executive producer but also location scout, key grip, post-production supervisor, and composer. “What we accomplished in 11 days was truly a miracle,” Bruce said. “But it was also the result of incredible preparation, tenacious work ethic, and a deep desire to make this little movie a love letter to the State of Delaware.”
“The Conspiracists”: Red Carpet, Release, and Recognition
While the premiere of “The Conspiracists” will be a can’t-miss event for local cinephiles and supporters of independent film, the story doesn’t end in Wilmington. Thanks to distributor Buffalo 8, the movie will be available for digital streaming starting January 9, 2026, on Amazon Prime and Verizon Fios, ensuring the film’s message—and its laughter—reaches a national audience.
For those attending the premiere, the experience extends beyond the screening. Guests will have access to behind-the-scenes insights through a filmmaker and cast Q&A, as well as the chance to witness firsthand the passion and perseverance that brought “The Conspiracists” to life. The soundtrack also deserves a spotlight, featuring the original track “Ooo Wee, /The Truth Will Set You Free,” a soulful collaboration between Grammy-nominated producer Herb Middleton and vocalist Jacci McGhee.
What’s perhaps most impressive is how every member of the production team wore multiple hats. From wardrobe design to animal training and catering to acting cameos, “The Conspiracists” embodies the do-it-all spirit of indie filmmaking. With a SAG Ultra Low Budget designation and a production budget of $250,000, the crew relied on Delaware tax incentives, nonprofit crowdfunding, private investors, and their own sweat equity to pull it all off. And it worked.
